2014 Review

I have 38 finishes under my 2014 finishes tab.  I listed each part of the Sorpresa SAL I was in as a finish as they were quite large parts each but I have only placed the completed stitching in the picture collage below.   It's not the best collage but its the first time I had a go at one, so for now it will have to do.  I finished a lot more quilted/applique pieces this year than I did cross stitch.

Exchanges = 16
Gifts = 7
Things for ME = 12
Charity = 3

Happy New Year to all my dear friends and followers.  May 2015 be a joyous one for you all.
Until next time, happy stitching/quilting

SSCS & Travelling Pirate Treasures

I was so excited to unwrap my SSCS gift on Christmas morning.  This is my first year participating in Chooky's SSCS and it has been rather enjoyable.
My Secret Santa turned out to be Tonje from Norway.  Here is what was in my parcel.

I just love the gorgeous table mat that she made for me, it has such lovely colours and its just perfect.  She also made me a little fabric basket that I am going to use for putting my threads in when I am at the sewing machine or when I am stitching, also the colourful dishcloth she knitted reminds me of sherbet.  And there were some Norway souvenirs for me aswell.
Thank you Tonje for a wonderful first SSCS swap, I shall treasure all that you sent me.

Here is what I sent to my partner Lyn in New Zealand.  The decoration I showed earlier, the larger gift was a pieced stocking.  I received a lovely email from Lyn on Christmas Day just before she was heading off on a plane to fly to Sydney to spend Christmas with her Mum.  I'm glad you liked your gifts Lyn.

I have also just received the Travelling Treasures Pirate Chest of charts.  Here is what I chose to keep from the chest.

The Brightneedle design included linen and threads aswell.
I have now added in quite a few charts to the mix and it will now be making it's journey to Kaye over the other side of Australia.
Until next time, happy stitching/quilting

Christmas Eve & Santa Sack Swap

As I am typing this post it is now 8.25pm.  We are keeping an eye on the Santa tracker and watching where he is in the world and shortly we will head out for a short walk around the neighbourhood to see the Christmas lights.

I again took part in Cheryll's wonderful Santa Sack Swap and this year my partner was Kaye.  I was going to leave some of the gifts until tomorrow to open, but I gave in.  Here is what Kaye made for me.

Gorgeous double sided tote bag.

Check out all those lovelies!

Here is what I made for Kaye.

I decided to send Kaye my stocking that I had made earlier in the year.

Extra gifts included a fabric bon bon I made, a Christmas house shaped pin cushion, appliqued tea towel, cross stitch kit, some present toppers and labels, novelty frame, tree ornie and beads.

Here is a close up of the tea towel.

Thanks Kaye for such a fun exchange, I enjoyed putting the swap together for you throughout the year, and a huge thanks to Swap Mama Cheryll for all the organising.

Before I leave I thought I would show you my tree and display set up for this year.

There's my SSCS parcel waiting patiently to be opened tomorrow, cant wait!!!

A close up of some of my ornies from dear friends over the years.

My side table dressed with all my sentimental ornaments.  My light up tree in the middle, a cross stitch box from Angela, my wonderful mini quilt I received from Sue for Christmas In July and also my tree is sat on top of the runner she made for me.  I am accumulating such beautiful items each year to add to this display.

Thank you for visiting with me throughout the year.  I will blog again before the year is up, but I just wanted to thank you all for your friendship.  It has been a tough year for me with health and also losing my beloved Jed so I am looking forward to a bright and joyful New Year for 2015.
Merry Christmas to you and your families, enjoy the festive break and please take care.

For Angela

Angela has received the parcel with our freebie design private exchange inside.  As mentioned in a previous post we decided to stitch each other a freebie design and leave it unfinished, so we could then choose our own finish for it.

I stitched Angela the Barbara Ana's "You Melt My Heart" design.  WOW was this design colourful or what!!  I loved stitching it as it was so bright and cheery.  I used a piece of hand dyed evenweave called Hydrangea and that was so pretty aswell.

I also made Angela an appliqued tea towel to use for her Christmas celebrations and I also included a shop bought ornie for her tree.

We enjoyed the theme for this years private exchange so we might just repeat it again next year.
Until next time, happy stitching/quilting

SSCS - Received

This is a quick post to let my Secret Santa know that I have received my parcel.
This is for Chooky's SSCS 2014 and we are to make an ornie for the tree and send a larger gift that cannot be opened until Christmas Day.

Here is my parcel from my Secret Santa.

She also included some extra little ornies aswell, one created in the traditional technique used in Sweden and Norway, a little gingerbread man and a very cute felt cupcake.  They are all now placed on my tree with the larger gift sitting under the tree waiting patiently for Christmas Day to arrive.

I have sent to my partner Lyn and she has already received, so I can show you the ornie I made.  The other parcel will have to wait until after Christmas when Lyn has opened it.

I blanket stitched on the dove and added a little red heart button as a feature.

I have also posted off my Santa Sack Swap parcels to my partner Kaye and she has received them now.  I included a mix of handmade and bought items for in her stocking, so I hope she enjoys everything.

Until next time, happy stitching/quilting

Private Exchange

My dear friend Angela and I have completed our private exchange this year.  This time we chose to stitch each other a freebie design and leave it unfinished, so then when we receive the surprise we can finish it however we would like.  I thought that would be rather exciting.
I have received my parcel from Angela and here is what she stitched for me.

I love this design.  Now my mind is boggling thinking of how I am going to finish it.
Angela also stitched for me a gorgeous ornie for my tree and included some wonderful extras to.

My parcel to Angela is still winging its way over, but should hopefully arrive soon and then I can share that with you all.

Until next time, happy stitching/quilting
