Thank You

to all my dear friends and followers that sent me such lovely emails and comments after the loss of my boy "Jed".  Your words brought a smile, and at times a tear to my face, but to know that so many of you cared was just soothing and helped so much.
He returned home yesterday in the vessel that we chose from the Pet Cremation centre. It's nice knowing that he is home with us again.

Due to those recent events I have been remiss in posting photos of the recent Halloween/Fall exchange that I completed.  Here is the parcel and stitched item that I sent to my partner Colleen (no blog).

I stitched two small squares of a Prairie Schooler design and made a hanging plaque for her to display.

I received a Fall parcel from Lisa K (no blog).  Thank you Lisa for such a lovely assortment of Fall goodies, I received not just one stitched item but two, a hanging pillow and a cute little mini pinkeep that Lisa put a magnet on the back of.
Until next time, happy stitching/quilting
Lisa

It's Been A Sad Week!

On Tuesday I had to say goodbye to my dearest friend and best buddy "Jed".  15 years he was a special part of our lives, we bought him home as a 9 week old puppy.  He was 5 years old when I came home from hospital with my newborn son and they both grew up together.
We were all with him together as a family as we said goodbye, as heartbreaking as it was we know he went peacefully.  I have lost my dear friend, a Staffie that we were so proud to call our own, a loving companion, a beautiful soul, my "Boof".

"Boof"
Our Best Buddy
1999 - 2014

God saw he was getting tired, and a cure was not to be.
So he put his arms around him and whispered, come with me.
With tearful eyes we watched him slowly fade away,
Although we loved him dearly, we could not make him stay.
A golden heart stopped beating, playful paws were put to rest,
God broke our hearts to prove to us, he only takes the best.

Sew Sweet Simplicity BOM #1

I decided to bite the bullet and join in on Jacquelynne Steves, Sew Sweet Simplicity BOM's.  I really need to learn more quilting and patchwork techniques and this tutorial for the BOM's encourages you to try it out as the blocks are not too hard!  Oh dear, I hope not anyway.
This is my first attempt at flying geese blocks and a snowball block.  I was able to use the wonderful square templates my hubby bought for me last Christmas to cut out all the squares needed, and the instructions are soo clear and easy that I found I didn't want to put it down once I got started.  You can choose to applique (hand or machine) or embroider your centre motif.  I have decided to go with applique and I am doing it by hand, as I rather enjoy blanket stitching.

So without further ado, here is my first ever BOM.

If you would like to discover this free BOM tutorial for yourself, please click on the button in my sidebar and it will take you to Jacquelynne's website.
Until next time, happy stitching/quilting
