Blanket of Love #2

My latest finish is a small quilt for the Blankets of Love group run by Cheryll.

I had this cross stitch piece that had been stitched for me as part of a robin.  My dearest friend Angela stitched one of the teddies for me.  I found some fabric that matched in with the hand dyed aida that the teddies were stitched on and the more I looked at it, the more I felt that it would be perfect as a mini quilt.  The colours of the wings just pop right off the fabric and really stand out.  I kept the quilting minimal by adding a triangular frame around the aida to make it stand out, and used a striped fabric for the binding.

I am donating this finish to Blankets of Love on behalf of my dear friend Angela as well as she did contribute to this piece.

Until next time, happy stitching/quilting

A Little Reindeer

Here's a little Christmas ornament that I finished the other day.
He was a little kit that I had got from Ebay a little while ago.  The backing fabric for the applique and the back piece of fabric are a lovely soft flannel and the reindeer body is felt.  I blanket stitched him in place and then went around the outside panel with some red french knots and green lazy daisy stitches to fill in.
I am really pleased with how he turned out.  He will now go into my Christmas gift giving box.

I am linking up with Anthea for CTTY.

Until next time happy stitching/quilting

Words & Sayings

I recently organised a Words/Sayings exchange over at SCE and here is what I sent and received.

I sent my parcel to Lisa K.  I chose a Lizzie Kate chart called "Plant Love" and made a pinkeep for Lisa.  I was also pleased when I found a great tea towel with a lovely inspirational saying.

Here is my lovely exchange parcel from Kay.  She stitched LHN's "To thine own self be true" and made a hanging pillow for me.  Look at the fabulous cushion cover she also included.  I found a small cushion insert at home (its a little small but for now it works till I buy bigger) and I have it sat on my spare lounge.  Everything is lovely and thank you to Kay for making and sending me such lovely items.

Until next time, happy stitching/quilting.
