2013 - All Wrapped Up!

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas.  Our's was lovely and not too hot for a nice change.  I spent the morning with my husband and son and then late afternoon went to pick up my Grandad and headed over to my parents house for dinner.
My husband and son bought me a new printer (which I was in desperate need of), a lovely hanger for mini quilts which I have been able to use to display the wallhanging that Sharyn sent me and also some quilting templates.  I also received some face cream and a milk frother for our coffee machine from my parents.

Here is a picture of the hanger with the mini quilt on my wall.

Well tonight is New Years Eve and we have not made any plans, so it will be like a normal night for us, and that is if we make it to midnight, we are usually too exhausted after working all day that we don't see the New Year in.

Here are the results of my 2013 stitching.

Exchanges = 15
Gifts = 4
ME stitches = 11

Total = 30 (Alot less than last year)

Here is a recap of some of my favourite finishes in 2013.

I would like to wish you all a Happy New Year and look forward to visiting with you next year.  May 2014 bring you peace and happiness.
Until next time, happy stitching

Santa Sack Opening Day

YIPPEE!!! I had such a lovely time opening up my gifts from Sharyn in the Santa Sack Swap this morning. She gifted me with such lovely handmade items and extras.
Here's an overall picture of everything and then some individual pictures of the handmade items.

Cute little mug rug/placemat
Amazing mini wallhanging
Matching tote, zippered bag and tissue holder set

Thank you Sharyn for such a fun exchange, your gifts will be treasured.

Here is what I sent to Sharyn.

A cross stitched and quilted table runner.

I had to borrow the picture from Sharyn's blog of the entire parcel as I forgot to take a picture of all the extras I included.

What a fun and exciting exchange that was, I will definately be signing up again next year.  Thank you to Cheryll for the organising.

Until next time, happy stitching

I'm All Ready For Christmas!

I cant believe I just said that, but yes for once I am all ready for Christmas.  All gifts for family have been bought (just have to wrap my Son's gifts), the tree is up and all my stitching for gifts and exchanges are done and either in their new homes or still flying there.

I have been stitching and decided to work on a little something that will eventually become a table runner or wall hanging type finish.  I'm hoping to work on some quilting and applique in the New Year and I want to be able to transform this into a new finish.  We shall see how I go.

It will soon be time for the Santa Sack Swap opening day, and I'm soo looking forward to opening my parcels.  They are sitting under my tree patiently waiting, calling out to me as I pass by every day.  My partner for this swap is Sharyn.  She has also received my parcel that I sent to her and I really hope she likes what I put together for her.

Next post will be pics of what my Santa Sack contained.

Halloween & Fall

Hello dear friends and Happy Halloween to you all.
Today I thought I would post about the recent exchange I completed.  I chose to receive a Fall parcel and the person I sent to wanted a Halloween parcel.  Here are the pics.

I sent Amy this package of Halloween goodies.  My stitched piece I made into a little trick or treat bag and I'm so pleased with how it turned out. The design is "Halloween" by Cottage Garden Samplings.  It was fun shopping for all the Halloween surprises to.  Its not a big event here in Australia so there is not alot to find in the shops, but I think I was lucky with this lot I did find at my local craft/homewares store.

Here is the amazing package I received from Renee.  She stitched "Fall Owl" by Cherry Hill Stitchery and made this gorgeous pillow for me.  Such fantastic extras were also included.  Thanks Renee for an amazing exchange, I love it all.
Until next time, happy stitching

Harvest Finish & Progress Pic

Sorry it has been a while in between posts.  I was waiting on an exchange piece to arrive so I could share it with you and I was also working away on my WIP.

Firstly I would like to show you what I stitched for Sarah W in the Blackbird Designs Round 13 exchange.  I took part of the "Waiting For The Harvest" design and added Sarah's initial.  Its finished as a no-sew cube. The fabric I used was a piece of Stitches & Spice Belfast linen called "Terrafirma" in 32ct, it was so lovely to work on.

I have made some more progress on my WIP, Carriage House Samplings "Sarah Spurr".  It really is a joy to stitch this one, but it does have a lot of filling in solid blocks of colour and it feels like its taking me ages to get this bottom part finished.  Sorry for the wonky looking picture, it was still in the q-snap.  Here are before and current shots.

Before I go, I wanted to express my sadness on hearing the news of Cathey's passing.  I am so happy she was able to see our outpouring of love to her on "Pumpkins For Cathey" day and know how much we were thinking of her.  My condolences to her family and friends.

Sadly missed along life's way,
quietly remembered every day...
No longer in our life to share,
but in our hearts, you're always there

Until next time, happy stitching

A Church Is Added

To my Sorpresa 3 SAL.  I am now up to Part 6 which is a ski lift down a slope with a cabin up the top, which will fill in the top right hand corner.  I am still a month behind, but with exchange pieces to stitch as well its hard to catch up.
I have decided that I will give it a little break for now and do a bit more on my Sarah Spurr WIP.

I have recently finished one exchange piece that has been posted and should hopefully be arriving at its destination soon.  I also have another stitched piece here waiting to be finished for another exchange.  I'm going to have to get started on some Christmas stitching soon otherwise I will run out of time.

Until next time, happy stitching

WIP Progress Photos

Since my last post I have been working away on two of my currents WIPs.  The first, when finished, is going to be my largest finish.  I have now finished another row, only four more to go.

The second is my progress on the Sorpresa 3 SAL.  Lots of trees in this section which drove me batty and I had to go out and buy more of the DMC colour for them as you use soo much.  Not many left to go, just a few more down the slope and two little deer and then I can start work on the church up top.

Next up I have an exchange piece to start.
Until next time, happy stitching.

The Three B's

Birds, Bees and Butterflies that is!!

My recent exchange over at Stitched With Love Exchanges had the above theme and here is what I stitched for my partner Dawn.

The bird design is a freebie pattern created by Luli and its soo simple and pretty.  Dawn had blue down as her favourite colour so I used a very pale blue thread colour on navy linen.  I created a little wall hanging finish. The extras were fun to find and put together, cant believe I found the butterfly shaped cookie cutter.

My parcel arrived from Edit and I just adore this wallhanging that she made for me.

This is one bird design I have been fond of for a while but never actually got around to stitch.  I'm soo pleased she chose this design for me.  The little novelty people are actually wooden salt and pepper shakers and they are soo sweet.  Thank you Edit for such a lovely exchange.

Until next time, happy stitching

A Mystery Sampler

I have just finished stitching the first part in the Little House Needleworks Mystery Sampler.  I enjoyed the first half of the arch but then when I came to the second half I just wanted it finished.  It doesnt look like it has a lot of stitching in it, but it took me a good week to finish it up.
I'm waiting on the second part to be sent over from the US along with the newest BBD design with the bird (got a thing about birds in designs).

I dont think I will be doing a lot over the next couple of days, I woke during the night with cold and flu symptoms and this morning I have a sore throat, stuffed up nose, blocked ear and weepy eyes.  YUCK, I hate being sick!!!
Until next time, happy stitching

Christmas In July

Such an exciting day today, we got to open our Christmas In July parcels. YIPPEE!!!!
This was the first time I had participated in this exchange and what a treat it was.  I received from Kerrie.  Look at these lovelies that she made for me.

1.  A Rug for my "Xmas Mug of Cheer" hehe
2. Chenille Tree Hanger
3. Santa Hanger

Arent they delightful!  I am soo amazed by some of the lovely gifts that some people made for their partners.  We had to send 3 handmade items.  There is such talent out there!
Thank you Kerrie for such lovely gifts you sent, I shall treasure them and look forward to showing them off this Christmas.

For my partner Deb, I made the following:

Homespun Elegance - Holiday Samplings I - made into a cube finish

Santa motif design - made into a hanging ornie

My first attempt at felt work - Kissing Mistletoe

I am happy that Deb appreciated my cross stitch gifts, I was a little worried as most of the ladies are quilters and/or sewers.  Such a lovely group of friendly and happy exchangers.  Thank you to Cheryll for organising such a fun exchange, I will definately get involved next year.

Until next time, happy stitching

A Diddie Bag & SAL Progress

Hello dear friends, I would like to share with you all this gorgeous finish that Faye made for me.

Its a Fall Diddie Bag and its soo lovely. I sent Faye some of my stitching recently to work her magic on as I am still without a sewing machine and I wanted these pieces made into something special. Here is the magic she wove on a JBW design.

I will wait to share the others with you over coming posts.

Here is my progress on the SAL Sorpresa 3, Part 2 is now finished.

Until next time, happy stitching.

Catch Up On Exchanges

The last exchange I participated in was the Stitched With Love "Home Sweet Home".
For this exchange I sent to Melissa.  I stitched a little house from a Gazette 94 pattern, choosing my own colour combination and made it into a pinkeep, I also found a sweet little pink fabric flower to embellish it with.  The wooden plaque I found out whilst shopping and thought it was perfect for the theme.

I received from Marjorie and she explained the pattern for the little pillow came from an old magazine and she made the crochet squares herself.  Thank you Marjorie, it was a lovely exchange to receive.

I am currently stitching on my SAL Sorpresa 3 trying to catch up and I also have another two pieces to stitch and finish for a July 15 deadline.
Until next time, happy stitching

For June

Here is the little gift that I sent to my dear friend June for her recent birthday.

I made a hanging wicker coaster finish (I'm quite enjoying this finish style) and added a bit of bling in the pin that is holding the bow on.
I'm happy that June loved my gift, even though it did arrive a little late (story of my life with mail at the moment).  Even posting within Australia takes over a week to arrive, it just doesn't seem right!

Until next time, happy stitching

Blackbird Round 12

Another successful exchange has finished up over at the Blackbird Exchange blog for Round 12.
This round I stitched for Barbara.  My pattern of choice was the "Tulip & Stars Pincushion".  I really like the colours in this one and I'm happy that Barbara did too.

I also received from Barbara and she stitched this sweet design for me and included some wonderful goodies to go with it.  Barbara makes her own hand dyed threads and she sent me a little selection to try out and also this gorgeous hand painted hornbook.

Thank you dear Barbara for such a fun and enjoyable round.
Until next time, happy stitching
