Final Finish & Year Tally

I hope all my wonderful stitching friends and followers had a great Christmas.  Mine was lovely.  We had a quiet get together with my parents and they bought me a bottle of my favourite perfume "Angel" and from my husband and son I received some CD's this year, my favourite being Ed Sheeran.

The weather has been sweltering hot here with temperatures reaching 40 degrees and it will be like this for another couple of days yet.  (In Australia we measure our temperatures a bit different to other areas of the world, so 40 degrees is extreme heat to us, anything under 10 degrees is very cold, we dont get snow here in Western Australia and very rarely if ever temperatures would reach under 2 degrees).  That being said I have put away my big stitching projects "Sarah Spurr" and the CHS Alphabet as it is just too uncomfortable to be sat in my chair moving around all that fabric on these hot days.  Even though I have air conditioning it still gets sticky when you are sat in a confined chair with fabric all over your lap.  I will work instead on some smaller stitching pieces for upcoming exchanges or ornie finishes.

Here is a picture of my last ornie finish for the year.  I stitched this for a dear friend of mine as a thank you gift.  I only met her a few months ago but its like we have known each other for ages, she was also wonderful enough to get me a job where she is currently temping (I am also a temp worker and had been out of work for going on 5 weeks), so she helped me out big time just before Christmas.

Lizzie Kate's "Friends"

Here is a picture of the gift I sent to my good friend Lisa S for Christmas.  Its similar to what I sent to Angela in that I included the Santa wine bottle cover, felt ornies, stickers and labels and I gave Lisa the Glory Bee ornie I finished off in a previous post.

Well now for my 2012 tally!!

39 finishes this year.

11 - Exchanges
8 - Gifts
15 - ME finishes
5 - Work on Round Robin pieces

I'm soo pleased with the ME stitches this year, I really wanted to make more things for myself and I definately achieved that.

Next year I am still planning on getting stuck into some more ME stitching with some larger projects I have been thinking about.  I will definately be carrying on with exchanges as I do thoroughly enjoy them.
I also have a SAL piece that Angela and I have decided to work on starting late January aswell.  I will also send out some RAK's during the year which could be a mixture of stitched items, charts or other stitchy goodies.
And last but not least, I plan on doing a giveaway in the New Year for my followers.  I have reached over the 200 mark and as a huge thank you for your friendship and following I would like to put something together.  It will be a mix of stitching necessities and something stitched and finished by me so please make sure you come back and sign up when I have got everything together.

Thank you all for your visits and comments and I hope you all have a safe and Happy New Year!!
Until next time, happy stitching

Our Yearly Ritual

One more sleep until Santa arrives!!!  Hope he doesn't find flying over Australia too hot for him in that heavy suit, we are expecting a sweltering 39 degrees for the big day.

My dear friend Angela and I have again exchanged gifts for the Christmas season and below is what we made for each other.

I gave Angela the Homespun Elegance ornie that I showed in a previous post, as she is a snowman lover I thought this one would be most suited.  I also made her a small pillow with the Primitive Hare's "Sister Stitcher" design.  The large Santa item is actually a wine bottle cover and I also included some other Christmas essentials like stickers, a snowman charm, felt ornies and a hanging silver ornie.

Angela sent me a lovely pinkeep finish, Prairie Schoolers "Songs of the Season" and my ornie this year is a Homespun Elegance design "Festive Redbird".  She also included some fabric, scissors, a PS chart and a little tape measure.  Funny how we both went for a Homespun Elegance design for the ornie!!

Thank you Angela for another great year of friendship.

Merry Christmas to all my dear friends and followers, thank you for visiting with me throughout the year and I look forward to another wonderful year of stitching with you all.
I will leave you with a picture of my tree this year.

Until next time, happy stitching

Exchange & WIP Progress

My last exchange of the year has been finalised and we are now able to show you the pictures.
For the Stitched With Love Christmas exchange I had to send to Kaye this time and this is what I sent in her package.

I stitched "Happy Ho Ho Day" by The Trilogy.
I found this cute set of plastic knives and forks with baubles on the end and included those, along with some felt ornies, fabric, ribbon and some other Christmas essentials.

I received from Ellen this year and here is what she sent to me.

I just love this ornie that she stitched for me and the gorgeous felt robin decorations.  Thank you Ellen for such lovely treasures.

I have also been stitching away on my new WIP Carriage House Samplings "Sarah Spurr" and using 40ct for the very first time.  It takes a little getting used to but I love the way it looks on the fabric.  I'm stitching it on a piece of Newcastle Days Gone By.

Next post I will share some Christmas gifts received from friends.
Until next time, happy stitching

Blackbird Exchange Round 10

My first round as moderator of the Blackbird Designs exchange group has turned out fantastic with a hassle free exchange.  All members that took part made such beautiful items for their partners and I would like to thank them all for making my first round as the new moderator an enjoyable one.

My partner to send to in this round was Lisa P and I stitched her "Love Letters" from the Joyeaux Noel booklet.  I have always liked this design and was soo happy to get to stitch it for Lisa.

Finished as a round coaster style pinkeep I added some bling with two shiny flowers on the bottom.

I received from Mayte and here is what she stitched for me.

Its "Our Home Sewing Box" from the "For My Friend" booklet, she used 32ct Belfast linen "Rock Quarry" and the suggested threads.  Its a lovely box topper and I was soo super pleased to receive it.  Thank you dear Mayte for this wonderful treasure.

I stash dived after my last post and came out with Carriage House Samplings "Sarah Spurr".  I'm using 40ct for the first time ever and actually quite enjoying it.  I will post a progress picture on my next post.
Until next time, happy stitching

A Robin Returns & A SAL Finished

My needle has been smoking this week as I have concentrated solely on stitching the Merry & Bright SAL, and instead of showing you a progress picture I can now show you the finished product.  I enjoyed this SAL soo much, at times I just couldn't pull myself away from it.

I only used DMC in my piece and stitched it on a piece of soft green linen that was in my stash.  I dont know what I will finish it as, I have a few ideas though and when its all sorted I will show you it then.

As the title suggests I was also lucky to receive my robin home last month.  A huge thanks and big hugs go out to Angela, Michelle, Elisa and Lesleyanne for contributing to my robin, I'm soo pleased with how it turned out.  This was stitched using only 3 DMC colours and its finished on a piece of cream evenweave.

Well what to stitch now!!!!!  I think I have to go stash diving and see what takes my fancy.
Until next time, happy stitching

Hello dear friends, I received a couple of emails after my last post asking me to post a picture of the progress on my Carriage House Samplings "Alphabet Blocks" progress.
Its soo nice to know that you are interested in seeing my work and it helps me to push along and get more squares done.

Here is my progress soo far.

Thanks again for all your lovely comments and emails.
I have started stitching on Erynne's SAL and its soo addictive.  I will show a progress picture next post.

Exchange & Ornie's

Hello dear friends, the Stitched With Love "Fall Into Halloween" exchange has just wound up and now I can share my photos with you.
This round I was partnered with the same person that also sent to me, Chris from Tot Hill Farm Stitches.  She chose a Halloween themed parcel and this is what I stitched and sent her.

Bent Creek "Ghostie Manor" - Flatfold
That was such a fun stitch.

I chose a Fall theme and here is what Chris stitched and sent to me.

Love the Prarie Schooler design pillow with the lovely chenille trim.
Thanks Chris for a great exchange.

As mentioned in my previous post I had been busy making some christmas ornies.  Here is a picture of them all.

I have let my Mum choose the one she wants this year and the other 3 are going out to my dear stitching friends with their Christmas parcels.

I have finished stitching my Stitched With Love "Christmas" exchange piece and got the parcel posted out yesterday.  I have since been stitching on my CHS Alphabet blocks and I'm hoping to start on a Christmas design that Erynne of Stitcheree put up on her blog, I have been admiring Edgar's progress of it and I now want to get stuck into it too.

Until next time, happy stitching

Pincushion Creation

I would like to start off by wishing my dear friend Lisa S a Happy Birthday.  It was Lisa's birthday on Halloween so I'm a few days late posting.
Here is what I sent her for a gift this year.

Shakespeare's Peddler - Sampler Roundy

I didn't have a round base to mount it on so instead I made a round pincushion finish and found a vintage looking button for the centre.  Its the first time I have tried this finish and I was happy with how it turned out.  I used some black chenille to trim it with.

I was also a lucky winner over on Lisa M's blog and this is the parcel that arrived for me.  I got soo excited when I saw all the lovely trims and threads, not to mention the beautiful piece of linen, aren't the colours amazing!  I have also found some ornie's in this magazine that I will be stitching up for sure.  Thank you Lisa!

I have been stitching on an exchange piece and also working on some Christmas Ornie's which I should have finished soon and will show them on my next post.

Thank you all for visiting and your lovely comments, I do appreciate them all.
Until next time, happy stitching

Animal Antics

Another great exchange over at Stitched With Love with the theme being Animal Antics.

I sent to Lisa M and her animal choices were Birds, Sealife and Bears.  I decided to gift her with three parcels that included something for each of her animals.  For birds I included some fabric with owls, a white dove ornament and iron on transfer.  Sealife included fabric, stickers, a starfish keyring and a seahorse iron on transfer and for bears I found a little koala pin and sent DMC threads in the colours that bears can be found in.

Stitched piece is a Carriage House Samplings chart called "The Gilded Cage" and I made it into a wallhanging finish.

I received my parcel from Mindi.  My animal choices were Deer, Rabbits & Hedgehogs.  I received a parcel with a rabbit theme.  Mindi stitched me not one, but two wonderful Plum Street Sampler designs and made them into little pillows.  I also received some wonderful fabric, trims, buttons, thread, a great Plum Street Sampler chart and a notepad.

Thanks Mindi for a wonderful exchange.
Until next time, happy stitching

Finished To Perfection

Hi dear stitching friends and followers, today I have a visual feast of stitchy goodness.
As my sewing machine decided to die on me, I havent been able to make any pillow type finishes or wallhangings, so I decided to send some of my finished stitching off to Faye at Carolina Stitcher to work her magic on them.
I gave Faye some ideas of how I saw them finished, but I asked her to see if she had any better ideas and to go ahead with what she liked best and she had the ultimate control over fabric and embellishment choice.  Faye contacted me when they arrived and gave me a mental picture of what she visioned and I told her to go for it.
Well my box of stitchy goodness arrived the other day and I couldn't stop squeeling with joy, they have all been finished soo beautifully.  Here they all are for your visual delight.

La-D-Da - ABCD - Travelling Pattern
A gorgeous table topper/scarf.

La-D-Da Yellow Bird
Pillow with lace trim and filled with crushed walnut shells.

Nimue - La Pipe
Pillow with quilted patch area with a variety of greens to match in with the goblin man.

Heart In Hand - Perfect Snowman
A gorgeous wallhanging.

I can't thank Faye enough for working her magic on my stitched pieces, they are better than I had visioned.  I will sure be sending some more her way in the future.

Until next time, happy stitching

Work On The Final Robin

I have managed to finish stitching on the last of the robins in our little group.
This robin belongs to Angela.  Angela is a huge Halloween fan and she chose this Blue Ribbon Design as her robin.
I think we will all receive our robins back by Christmas.

Angela's Gift

It was my dear friend's birthday on Sunday so I can now reveal what I made for her special day.
This was stitched by me not soo long ago.  It was the travelling pattern LHN's "Summer Splendor" and I finished it off as a pinkeep.

I'm happy to say that Angela loved her little gift, and I'm glad, as I also wanted to express how I appreciate her friendship and how much she means to me.
Until next time, happy stitching

The Wait Is Over...

I've kept you in suspense long enough.
Here is the experimental finish I was working on and mentioned in my previous post.

The design is by 123 Citrouille and I used the DMC colours called for.  The backing is a wicker style coaster that has a mesh cloth centre.  I cut out card to match the centre circle and covered with fabric which I then attached to the coaster.  You cant see through from the back which is handy.  I then mounted my stitching on to card also and then mounted this onto the fabric circle, it is then trimmed with chenille and I also found a lovely trim to place around the fabric circle.  When attaching this altogether I also sandwiched in the white ribbon and made a bow at the top for a hanger.  The little silver heart charm just adds a touch of bling to the base of the ribbon.

I would love to hear your feedback.
Until next time, happy stitching

Snow Fun

I forgot to post a picture of the square I stitched up on Lesleyanne's robin.
Lesleyanne chose Lizzie Kate's "Six Fat Men" as her robin and I stitched the top right snowman with the words Snow Fun.
What a fun stitch this one was.  Lesleyanne chose a lovely hand dyed blue aida.  I havent stitched on aida in years so it was quite different.

Next post I will be showing you all an experimental finish I had been doing.  I stitched this lovely bird design and was trying to figure out a way to display it.  I messed around for a few days with this finish, trying to get it just right and I can happily say that I am excited with the finish and ready to show you all.

Until next time, happy stitching

Bird Arrival

A few posts ago I showed the Bird exchange that I had sent to Lisa S in our Stitching Between Friends exchange.
Yesterday I received my exchange piece from Lisa.

Lisa writes that the design is "L'arbre aux Oiseaux" by Atalie and she stitched it using 32ct cream linen and Threadworx thread #01043.
I think it has such a lovely Autumn feel to it with the coordinating fabric and the cute little glitter leaf embellishment attached.
Thank you Lisa for another great exchange.

This was the last exchange for our little private group, we decided to finish it up.  It wont stop me exchanging though as I am still participating in other groups and I also like to do some private exchanges aswell.

Until next time, happy stitching

Tea In The Garden

I have just taken part in another wonderful exchange over at Stitched With Love exchanges, this theme being Tea In The Garden.

This is the parcel I put together for my partner Renee.

I finished my stitched piece into a little pillow with some beads on the corners.  Extras included a tea towel, cupcake fabric, knife & fork picnic set, an assortment of tea & coffee bags in a satin tea caddy bag, some stickers and a yummy afternoon tea recipe.  I hope Renee liked it all.

And now I can show you the amazing parcel I received from my partner Beth.  Beth said in her card that she designed this chart herself and its absolutely wonderful, its soo intricate with little beads and french knots and so well done.  I was soo amazed at her talent.  The box when opened is full of tea bags as Beth made it into a tea caddy box for me.
Then there is all the wonderful goodies she also sent.  A white porcelain bunny milk creamer, a little porcelain cup and saucer set, some gorgeous silver decorative measuring spoons, another silver teaspoon, a recipe accordian book that she made herself and filled with her favourtie afternoon tea recipes and a CCN chart.  Thank you Beth for such a wonderful exchange, I shall treasure it all.

Until next time,  happy stitching

Its Ready To Go!

The travelling pattern that is.
I finished stitching on LHN - Summer Splendor today whilst watching some of the Olympic games.
My version is stitched on Stitches & Spice 32ct Belfast linen "Sand Storm" and I used some DMC alternatives and two Crescent Colours threads.  I'm not sure what this will be finished into as yet and for this reason I have deliberately left off the border for now.

Now if you would like to be the next stitcher to stitch this gorgeous chart please leave a note specifically stating that you are interested in the drawing for this chart in your comments. The only requirements are:

1. You must have an active blog
2. Please agree to stitch it promptly
3. Please pass it along to a fellow stitcher via a drawing on your blog
4. Please post your finish and the history of where the chart has travelled like this:

1. Kathy at "Kathy's Sit and Stitch"
2. Carol at "Stitching Dreams"
3. Lisa at "Lisa V's Lounge"

I will draw a name on Friday 10 August.  Dont forget that I am ahead in time here in Australia so try to get your comments in by Thursday so you wont miss out.

Until next time, happy stitching

Birdy for Lisa

My partner for the Stitching Between Friends exchange was my dear friend Lisa S, the theme for the exchange was Birds.
I had soo much fun stitching this one for Lisa, its such a fun design.  I picked out Lisa's favourite colour purple, chose a dark and a light coloured hand dyed thread and a green one for the flower stalk and this is how the little fellow turned out.

The chart is a freebie online over at Aliola's blog, the chart is in black and white so you choose whatever colours you want to use.

I decided on a tin topper as the finish, inside it is padded in a purple gingham and Lisa can place anything she likes in there.  I am pleased that Lisa loved him when he arrived at her home.
Until next time, happy stitching

Latest Stitching

Well I dont have much to report this week.  I have been working on my Stitched With Love Tea Party exchange piece and managed to get that finished up today.  It still has a little while before mailout so it will still be a while before I can show you the finished piece.

I also finished stitching my part on Michelle's robin and posted it off this week to the next stitcher.  Here is Michelle's robin so far..

I now have no other deadlines until September when I start to stitch birthday gifts for two special friends.
I also received another travelling pattern in the mail this week from Carol and that will be my next stitch.  It is LHN's Summer Splendor, so please keep an eye out for when I finish it as it will then be offered to another stitcher and make its way somewhere else in the world on its journey as a travelling pattern.

Until next time, happy stitching

La-D-Da "ABCD"

Here is my latest finish.  This is a travelling pattern that is travelling to selected stitchers around the world who signed up to be a part of it.  The chart belongs to Peggy Lee and there is a journal travelling along with it which shows a picture of each stitchers finish and a note to Peggy Lee.  What a great keepsake she will have at the end.

Stitched using Carrie's Creation thread "Old Vision" on 28ct beige Jobelan.
I really dont know what it will be finished as yet.  Any suggestions?
Until next time, happy stitching.

An Angel...

by the name of June, stepped in to stitch for me.  Earlier in the year I was part of an exchange where the person that had to send to me wasn't able to send out her exchange as she was going through some tough family issues.  June let me know that she was going to be my Angel Stitcher and send me a parcel instead.  I was soo excited as June's stitching is absolutely gorgeous and she is also a dear friend.
Here is the lovely parcel I received.

The little pillow is soo me, its a Shepherds Bush design "Lamb", and check out all the lovely extras June sent along.  Thank you June, you really are "an angel".

Here is the exchange that I sent to my partner Renee earlier in the year.

I also finished stitching on one of the travelling patterns that I put my name down for.  This one is La-D-Da's Yellow Bird.  I used a Blue Opal Thread for this design (no name for colour on label) and it came out a stone beige colour with dark blue highlights .  I chose to leave off the scalloped edging.  This chart is now on its way to Grace to stitch.

Until next time, happy stitching

Favourite Things Exchange

Hello dear stitching friends.
We are currently in Winter here in Western Australia with intermittent days of rain and cold nights. I love to stitch cuddled up in my pj's and dressing gown.

Well as the heading suggests I recently participated in the Stitched With Love "My Favourite Things" exchange.
I had to send to April for this round.  April hinted at Halloween and colours green and black, so that is what I focussed on for her exchange.  Here is a picture of the exchange as a whole.

I stitched Lizzie Kate's "Eek" and made it into a pinkeep using some fluro green fuzzy trim for the edging.

I received my exchange from Lynda, and I must say she hit the nail on the head with the items she sent me.  I have quite a mix of fave designers, themes and finishes so Lynda picked Plum Street Samplers from my list and stitched up "Hare's Spring" for me and finished it as a pinkeep.  She also included "Hare's Summer" chart, the LHN ornie (which was on my wishlist), some gorgeous fabric and hand dyed fabric and a little hedgehog stamp.  Thank you Lynda for such a delightful parcel, this was a great exchange.

I am currently stitching on a travelling pattern that I am part of, it is travelling to selected stitchers around the world.  I will post pictures as soon as I have this one finished.  I have also just recently stitched another small travelling pattern that is making its way around to three stitchers who put their name down, I will post pictures of this one in my next post.
Until next time, happy stitching

More Treats!

Hello dear friends,
I am about to make a dear stitching friend of mine very jealous!!
Below is a gorgeous gift I received from my parents and husband for my birthday.  Its a piece of metal art that you hang on a wall, it just happens to be something that I know my dear friend Lisa S would love.
**EDITED**  it appears that I have also made another dear friend jealous - June - you cant have it, its all mine, mine, mine!!!!

I have also had a bit of stash enhancement this week.  First up I bought some charts from Teresa who was having a stash sale on her blog.  The Rosewood Manor "Willkommen" design that you can see was actually on my wishlist.  Now it has arrived and I have seen it in person, I cant wait to stitch this one up.

I was also a winner over on Ezia's blog also known as New York Dreamer.  I received the collection of charts "Live, Love, Sing".

I am currently stitching away on an exchange piece and have recently finished blocks L, K & J of my CHS Alphabet blocks.  Once this next row is completed with the fill in of the letters I will post the next progress picture.
Until next time, happy stitching
